Clippers rally past Bucks to snap eight-game skid

Basketball Betting Lines

03/18/2010 - Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Chris Kaman scored 20 points and the Los Angeles Clippers surged in the fourth quarter to snap an eight-game skid with a 101-93 win over the Bucks.

Drew Gooden totaled 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Clippers, who stopped Milwaukee's six-game run and beat the Bucks in Los Angeles for the ninth time in the last 10 meetings.

"Everybody across the board played with high energy," Clippers coach Kim Hughes said. "We saved the zone for the second half. We were really tired of losing. It was the most aggressive game we've had."

Brandon Jennings scored 21 and John Salmons had 20 for the Bucks, who continue to hold onto the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Andrew Bogut chipped in 18 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.

"It was an embarrassment, we didn't come to play," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "Brandon tried to get us in the game, but it wasn't even as close as the score. They dominated."

The Clippers trailed 74-72 going into the fourth, but then shot 7-of-12 in the last quarter, while holding the Bucks to 8-of-23. Milwaukee also missed all seven of its three-point shots over the final 12 minutes.

Jennings scored 16 in the third, a period the Bucks finished on an 18-2 run. Jennings had 12 of those points.

The Clippers took control right at the start of the fourth, using a 14-2 spurt from the beginning of the stanza. Travis Outlaw capped it with a pair of free throws for an 86-76 margin with 6:34 left. The Bucks never got closer than six the rest of the game.

It was tied at 27 after one quarter, but the Clippers scored 11 straight late in the second for a 50-40 lead. The score stood at 52-43 at the half.

Game Notes

Milwaukee point guard Luke Ridnour played in his 500th NBA game...The Clippers have won 11 of the last 15 meetings...Eric Gordon and Baron Davis each scored 14 for LA.

Stanley Cup betting

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.

The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.

MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.

Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.

Academy Award Betting Odds for Best Picture Offer Great Value

If there is any category that is not an obvious win for any one nominee in this year's Academy Awards, it would be for Best Picture.  Sure the Departed is a 5/7 favorite, but that's hardly anything when we look at Helen Mirren and her "out-of-reach" 1 to 40 odds (which means you would win a whopping $1 for every $40 bet).

For value, take a look at MySportsbook.com Oscars betting odds on my personal favorite, The Queen - a remarkable 12 to 1 long shot.  The film hasn't won any pre-awards for Best Picture (compared to The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine), but there is a tremendous following and it is a strong enough film to warrant a surprise win.

TV Guide advises Oscar watchers should be cautioned not to discount the  drama "Babel" with its strong social themes about overcoming communication gaps among people of different cultures.

"While 'Babel' lost several guild awards to 'Sunshine' and 'Departed,'  it still enjoys loyal support, and historically Oscar voters favor dramas with social messages over comedies like 'Sunshine' and violent crime movies like 'Departed'."

"It hasn't done well in the guilds, which means there isn't much industry support," said Tom O'Neil of awards site TheEnvelope.com, "But several critics are expecting it to win, and that gets my attention." Babel had 7 to 2 odds at press time.

Who is to say independently produced Little Miss Sunshine won't be this year's Crash.  Last year, Crash won for Best Motion Picture, shocking those who bet on gay cowboy flick, Brokeback Mountain, as the favorite to win.
